After all of the summer sun we experienced in June, come July and Hayes & Yeading's first pre-season outing and the heavens decided to open up, thankfully the game could go ahead as it was on the clubs 3G training pitch. New gaffer Ritchie Hanlon selected a squad of signed players and a number of trialists as is normal for the first game of pre-season with his charges running out comfortable 3-0 winners on the night. United hit the visitors with a double goal salvo either side of the half hour mark with a brace from a trialist front runner with the visitors 'keeper doing well to keep the score down with a couple of decent saves thereafter. Mass changes at the break saw a different United side take a while to get going but while the visitors had a couple more shots this half they were off target and it was an easy evening for the United custodians. A third did come for United ten minutes from time when another trialist, Daniel Emovon, nipped in at the far post to fire home an excellent Steve Ngunga cross from the right side. Lastly, we thank Baldock Town for making the trip down to play United and wish them all the best for the upcoming season. Report by Kevin Watts.
