Hayes & Yeading's under 18 side progressed to the next round of this seasons FA Youth Cup with a resounding 4-0 victory over last seasons conquerors Chalfont St Peter at the SKYex on Thursday evening courtesy of two goals apiece from Harley Sells and Ben Bell. The game itself took a little while before either goal was threatened with the first effort on goal coming in the 19th minute when Riordan Brant collected the ball 20 yards from goal, his low drive being held by Chalfont stopper Oscar Adams who was also in the right place a minute later to field a low shot from Jhamar McDonald after good approach work by Selmon Emberto. Adams was soon worked again as skipper Romey Meoded pushed forwards and when the ball ran loose to a defender, his attempted clearance was blocked to Emberto who saw his goalbound effort tipped over by Adams. Just before the half hour mark at the other end a deep Oliver Evans cross from the right picked out Ben Roberts, his header deflected goalwards off United defender Cody Bentley but Lewis Lavin was alert and caught the ball before it went into the United net. Another push forwards by the home side on 35 minutes saw the deadlock finally broken as a cross from the right flank found Harley Sells who controlled the ball and fired home from 12 yards out to give United a deserved lead. Now a goal ahead, United continued to push for a second. Meoded hit a low skidding effort that Adams touched onto the post before grabbing the loose ball and minutes later a weak defensive clearance fell nicely to Sells but his driven shot was blocked away by a fine interception from Jayden Lockless. In stoppage time Adams pulled off the save of the half to deny Jamie Hanlon whose shot from the edge of the box looked to be heading for the top corner but for an acrobatic tip over from the visitors 'keeper and the half ended with United a single goal to the good. The opening five minutes of the second half saw an excellent chance for both sides to add to the scoreline, firstly for United having seen his shot deflect wide, Hanlon played the resultant corner low to the near post, Sells got in front of his marker but his flicked effort was held by Adams at the foot of the post. A couple of minutes later a break from their own half saw Oliver Evans released straight through the middle, he outpaced the United defence but with Lavin coming out to meet him, the Chalfont player sliced his shot well wide of the target from 25 yards out. The next noteworthy chance was over 20 minutes later as Sells doubled the United lead by turning home a Brant cross from the left for his fifth goal in three games. The final five minutes really belonged to Sells and substitute Ben Bell who had earlier replaced the injured Hanlon. In the 86th minute a long ball upfield was flicked on by Sells with Bell running onto the ball and arriving just before Adams to coolly flick the ball past the stopper and put United three goals ahead. Just two minutes later United's new double act were at it again as Sells received the ball from Trent Headley before sliding through an inch perfect pass that saw Bell repeat his earlier feat by beating Adams at close quarters and United were through to the next round and a trip to Beaconsfield Town.
