Hayes & Yeading slumped out of this years Buildbase FA Trophy courtesy of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of runaway Isthmian Premier leaders Worthing, who were probably the best side we have faced so far this season, high testimony as we have played a League 2 side, a National League side and two National South sides.

The visitors were quickly into their stride and in just the eighth minute Dajon Golding broke free on the right side of the pitch before cutting inside only to be denied by an excellent block tackle and clearance from Keano Robinson.

Robinson again came to United's rescue eight minutes later when a mix-up in the United area saw Tyla Dickinson partially stranded and as the ball was played across the box by Jasper Pattenden to Golding he got his shot away but the United defender got his head to the shot to send it wide of goal.

A minute later and with United still under the cosh, Dickinson did well to push a goalbound shot around the post. Dean Cox's resultant corner picked out his unmarked skipper Aarran Racine at the far post but his header came back off the upright and was scrambled away by the United defence.

With United still showing nothing of substance to trouble the visitors defence, another opening for the visitors on 21 minutes saw Reece Myles-Meekums played in on the left, his shot was blocked wide by Robinson, the resultant corner appeared to be sent goalwards off a United head but Dickinson was well placed to hold the ball on the line.

With 23 minutes played United finally started to create some forward movement that put pressure on the Worthing defence. Firstly Amos Nasha fed the ball through to Moses Emmanuel but his drive was blocked wide by visiting stopper Harrison Male with the subsequent corner coming to nothing.

Just a few minutes later Francis Amartey and Racine battled for possession moving into the Worthing six yard box, the United striker managed to poke the ball goalwards but straight into the grasp of Male, a minute later however Male needed to be at his acrobatic best as Emmanuel collected the ball on the left and blasted a shot towards the top corner that Male did superbly well to tip over.

Just before the half hour mark the visitors again struck the United woodwork, this time a curling effort from Pattenden beat Dickinson only to come back off the underside of the United crossbar with Jack Williams clearing the loose ball away.

As the half neared its conclusion, Hassan Jalloh played the ball through to Emmanuel but a defender's touch took the ball from his toes as the striker was about to shoot and with just two minutes left to the break the deadlock was broken by the visitors. Having earned another corner, Cox played the ball to the far post once more and Racine again climbed highest only this time he headed the ball back across goal into the far corner of the United net and the half closed with the visitors a goal ahead.

The one goal half-time advantage soon became three before the hour mark. In the 51st minute Golding collected the ball on the left side of the United area and fired past Dickinson to double Worthings advantage and just seven minutes later two became three when Cox sent Joel Colbran away on the right, the defender pulling the ball back to Cox who fired into the corner of the United net.

On the hour United had a chance to reduce the deficit when a bouncing ball in the Worthing area fell to Amartey but his shot under pressure was blocked away six yards from goal and a minute later Sanmi Odelusi pulled the ball back from the right to Omar Rowe but his shot from the edge of the box was inches wide of the target.

United went as close as they would all game in the 78th minute when a Tyler Goodrham corner was only partially cleared with Jordan Norville-Williams hitting a dipping volley from 20 yards that beat Male only to crash back off the crossbar before being cleared.

A chance for number four for the visitors came a minute later as Mo Diallo was played through on the left of goal but Dickinson was quickly down to push his shot away and when the ball was worked back to the edge of the box Ollie Pearce fired over the top.

United could have netted a consolation on 87 minutes when Goodrham headed the ball forwards to Emmanuel, his deft flick sent Goodrham through but his effort from 20 yards again went the wrong side of the upright and the game closed out with Worthing progressing as worthy winners.
