Paul Hughes' Hayes & Yeading side maintained the division's only remaining 100% record as United won a fourth consecutive game, beating a tough Taunton Town side 2-1 at the SKYex with goals from Keano Robinson and Moses Emmanuel.
With United missing a few key players through injury and illness this was never going to be an easy game against one of the top teams in the division, and a tough game is exactly what it proved to be.
United were out of the blocks quickly and in just the second minute a Hassan Jalloh corner kick was knocked down by skipper Liam McDevitt, Peacocks 'keeper Lloyd Irish tried to claim the ball but only knocked it to Omar Rowe, his shot on the turn being deflected back to Irish by a well placed visiting defender.
A minute later Irish was again in action, this time Moses Emmanuel collected a pull back from Jordan Norville-Willams, his quick turn and shot being pushed wide by the Peacocks stopper. Irish however will not be happy with the next phase though as the corner kick seemed to go straight through his hands allowing Keano Robinson to arrive at the far post to volley United ahead.
Ten minutes later though the visitors were level and once again the move came from an error, this time from United. Still aggrieved at a free-kick being given to the visitors when United thought it should have gone the other way, a sloppy pass within the United half saw Ollie Chamberlain through on goal, Jack Smith did well to push away his driven shot only for the ball to run to Gethyn Hill who passed it into the empty net.
With the sides level once more play seemed to start to even out. Emmanuel fed the ball to Jalloh but his drive was too high to trouble Irish while at the other end in the 31st minute a long range Ollie Chamberlain effort dipped over Smith only to bounce over off the top of the crossbar.
As the final ten minutes of the half came, Omar Rowe fired a low cross through the visitors six-yard box, with the ball just evading the sliding Emmanuel and Jalloh. Minutes later Smith was required again to keep the scores level as Hill collected a neat pass that had dropped over the United defence, his low shot was turned wide by the United 'keeper with the resultant corner being headed over by Ben Adelsbury.
We were now into first half stoppage time, and how United did not take the lead once again is beyond me although masssive credit must be given to Irish who in the space of about 15 seconds made three key saves as United fired shot after shot from close range with the ball finally being squirmed to safety and the break came with the teams level at 1-1.
The second half was to be less frantic than the first with United holding the balance of play but still keeping a close eye on the visitors breaking forwards.
Just before the hour mark Norville-Williams and Rowe combined on the left side before playing the ball inside to Francis Amartey who moved across the edge of the box before striking goalwards but his effort was well held low down by Irish.
Four minutes laterJalloh and Rowe combined neatly to create a shooting chance for the former, his effort was well blocked by Adelsbury with Irish clearing up by grasping the loose ball.
74 minutes had passed and another chance for the hosts saw Rowe feed the ball through to Emmanuel only for his effort to be well saved by Irish, however just a minute later United were once again ahead. Jalloh played a free-kick into the Peacocks area from the left side of the United midfield with Emmanuel flying in to glance a diving header beyond Irish and in off the far post.
Three minutes of normal time remained when Peacocks substitute Dan Sullivan broke free from the middle of the park, his centre deceived Ben Frempah and dropped to Jack Veale who struck the ball well first time only for Smith to push the shot away to safety.
Ten minutes of additional time were to be played but Smith and his defence coped easily enough with the visitors pushes upfield and it was United who came away with the points leaving the side top of the very early table with maximum points from four games.
