Kings Langley 2
Hayes & Yeading Utd 1

Hayes & Yeading's unbeaten league run came to a halt at Kings Langley on a freezing cold and very windy Saturday afternoon as United fell foul to a last minute wind assisted goal straight from the restart after Moses Emmanuel had levelled from the spot on 88 minutes and looked to have salvaged a point for Paul Hughes' side.

United started the game with the fierce wind at their backs and almost fluked the lead in just the third minute when a long Tyla Dickinson clearance took a bounce and sailed over home stopper Alfie Marriott only to go wide of the goal.

With the assistance of the wind United pushed ahead with regularity, Hassan Jalloh and Moses Emmanuel combined well with the latter laying the ball off to Amos Nasha who fired just wide from 20 yards and this was quickly followed by a deep corner from the left that was met at the far post by skipper Liam McDevitt, his downward header being blocked away by Marriott.

In the 11th minute Marriott was again in action, this time he did well to push wide a Ryan De Havilland drive and this saw the home side launch their first foray into United territory as a long ball forwards was controlled by Eduard Toiny-Pendred who sent Jack Wood through on goal but Dickinson stuck out a long arm as the Langley man tried to round him with the United stopper scooping the ball away from his toes.

The home side went close to opening the scoring in the 23rd minute when Jamie Jellis collected the ball inside the righthand corner of the United box and fired across Dickinson only for the effort to crash back off the upright with United grateful to mop up as the ball came back into the centre.

Four minutes later Marriott again kept the home side level, Jalloh broke into the box from the right before pulling the ball back to Emmanuel who saw his effort pushed away by the home 'keeper.

It was stoppage time in the first half before another chance came, and it turned out to be not one but two, one at each end. Firstly for United, Jalloh sent Francis Amartey away on the left but his drive was pushed wide by Marriott and as the hosts cleared the resultant corner away upfield, Jellis broke before finding Toiny-Pendred in the middle but his low shot was held by Dickinson and the half closed out goalless.

The hosts now with the horrific wind at their backs created the first opening of the half on 52 minutes when a shot from the edge of the box needed a smart block from Jordan Norville-Williams to stop it troubling Dickinson and within a minute United almost had oneat the other end when Emmanuel sprung the offside trap to race onto a Jalloh pass, the strikers' low shot being kept out by the outstretched boot of Marriott.

Before we hit the hour mark both sides again had a chance, for the hosts Will Hoskins picked off a loose pass in midfield and fed Toiny-Pendred but his shot flew across the United goal and wide of the far post and soon after at the opposite end Amartey left defender Leonard Armstrong in his wake, cut inside and fired in a shot that Marriott palmed down and grabbed before anybody could get to the loose ball.

The deadlock was finally broken by the hosts in the 77th minute as Jellis raced onto a fine pass from substitute Raf Khaleel to the right side and having entered the United area fired low past Dickinson just inside the near post.

With only a couple of minutes remaining United looked to have salvaged a point as Amartey once more burst into the area from the left, a nudge from Gary Connelly sent the striker tumbling as he was about to shoot and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Emmanuel took charge and after replacing the ball that the wind had moved from the spot the striker stayed composed and sent Marriott the wrong way to level the scores.

Sadly for United what followed was not in the script as a quickly taken re-start saw the ball tapped to Alfie Williams and with wind assistance he fired for goal and the ball flew over Dickinson into the United net and it was defeat for Paul Hughes' side at the 14th time of asking in the League campaign this far.
