Gosport Borough 1
Hayes & Yeading Utd 1

Hayes & Yeading travelled to the Hampshire coast and returned to Middlesex with a point after Dylan Switters pulled Paul Hughes' side level just before the half hour mark.

With a strong wind in their favour, Gosport made the first opening of the game in j st the fourth minute as the hosts moved the ball quickly and neatly through the middle of the park before feeding it wide to Rory Williams, his low cross flashing across the United six yard box.

The first 'keeper to be tested however was Gosport's Pat O'Flaherty, Dylan Switters collected the ball in midfield and drove forwards before trying his luck from 20 yards, O'Flaherty holding his shot comfortably.

In the 12th minute the home side should have taken the lead when a quick break following a United attack saw Liam Robinson collect a cross from the left before screwing his shot wide.

Two minutes later Borough were ahead though as a ball to Mat Paterson saw the striker bring it under control before curling a perfect shot beyond the reach of Jack Smith into the far corner of the United net.

Despite falling behind United didn't let their heads drop and started to press the home defence looking for a leveller, it was the home side though who had the next chance when a Robinson corner from the left was flicked goalwards by Paterson only for Dejon Noel-Williams to clear the danger from inside his own six yard box.

Two minutes later Paul Hughes' side were level. Keano Robinson's long throw-in was headed in the air with Switters then looping a header over O'Flaherty, who must be at least 6' 6", into the far corner of the Borough goal.

Minutes later United were again on the march toward the hosts area as Switters fed the ball infield to Lyle Della-Verde, the United man being fouled just outside the box as he got his shot away, the effort going just wide of the target.

Inside the final ten minutes of the half another chance for the home side saw George Barker win possession in the United half before cutting inside and trying his luck from 18 yards, Smith holding the ball comfortably.

The two final chances of the half both fell United's way. Scott Donnelly and Noel-Williams combined before finding Omar Rowe who brought the ball under control before curling a shot just wide of the target.

Toby Little and Rowe then exchanged passes with the former whipping the ball in from the left, Noel-Williams meeting the ball at full stretch, his volley sadly going over the top and it was all square at the break.

With the wind seemingly reduced in the second half it was however almost the hour mark before either goal was threatened. Switters found Della-Verde in the box, he in turn slid the ball to Noel's-Williams who was just wide with a shot on the turn.

United were almost caught out on 65 minutes when a break into the area and a bit of pinball led to Barker beating Smith only for Jacob Cook to superbly clear the effort off the line.

Minutes later another opening for the visitors saw a Little corner being met by both Ismail Yakubu and Noel-Williams at the near post but neither could direct the ball at the goal as it rolled wide of the target.

The final two chances both fell to the home side. Williams fired a free-kick around the United wall but Smith was equal to it, the United stopper tipping the ball around the post. Williams almost turned creator minutes later, his centre finding former United man Sam Argent in the middle, his glancing header going wide of the target with only Smith to beat and at the final whistle it was a point apiece.
