1st Team Match Report

Hanwell Town 1
Hayes & Yeading Utd 4
The 3D’s came up trumps for United for the second game running with Manny Duku, Scott Donnelly and Laste Dombaxe all finding the net in a fine 4-1 win for Paul Hughes’ side at lowly Hanwell Town on Tuesday evening that sees United move up to third spot.

Paul Hughes made a single, enforced, change to his starting line-up following Saturdays excellent victory over Hartley Wintney with Danny May returning to the starting XI in place of the unavailable Priestly Farquharson while current under 18s Michael O’Neil and Rashid Enayat took places on the bench against an opposition that included United under 18s top scorer Harvey Killeen in their side.

Despite all of the recent rain, the Hanwell pitch looked good from the side lines and United created the first opening in just the ninth minute as a quick throw-in by Adam Cash found Scott Donnelly, the United skipper moving into the box and firing goalwards only to be denied by home stopper Sam Bunting who pushed his effort around the post.

Six minutes later the deadlock was broken as Manny Duku collected a perfect through ball and advanced before firing coolly past the on-coming Bunting.

United were well in the ascendancy already as Donnelly found Duku in the box, the striker slipping past Nick Turner to set up Toby Little but Bunting got down well to smother the ball. Two minutes later though, United had a second. Donnelly exchanged passes with Laste Dombaxe and when the ball came back to Donnelly he applied a calm finish beyond the reach of Bunting.

A rare escape at the back for United just before the break saw Calum Duffy cross the ball over from the right side, Dan Fleming rose to meet the ball unchallenged in the middle but his header was too high to trouble Zaki Oualah in the United goal and the sides’ went in at the break with United holding a comfortable looking two goal lead.

United made a change at the break with Ismael Ehui replacing Kaan Fehmi and it was the substitute who forced an early save from Bunting, the Hanwell ‘keeper doing well to push away Ehui’s effort from the edge of the box.

A chance apiece arrived in quick succession just before the hour mark as firstly Turner found space in the United box only to head over and then at the other end of the Powerday Stadium, Ehui flicked the ball through to Donnelly who tried to loft the ball over Bunting but being tall, he caught the effort easily.

Minutes later United had a third. Cash played the ball to Duku on the left corner of the Hanwell box, United’s top scorer cutting inside and hitting an excellent curling shot into the far corner with Bunting having no chance thus rewarding Duku with strike 30 of the season.

Three minutes later the home side found a way though the United defence courtesy of veteran former Hayes FC striker Peter Dean, the Hanwell substitute glancing a header from a free-kick beyond Oualah’s reach into the far corner.

Sixteen minutes from time United had another as Dombaxe controlled a high pass before hitting an instant volley past Bunting to pretty much seal victory for the visiting side.

Minutes later the hosts were reduced to 10 men with Anthony O’Connor receiving a straight red card from referee Conor Farrell for serious foul play, this however actually spurred the home side on as United started to relax and two chances for the hosts followed.

Harvey Killeen ran at the United box and hit a low drive that Oualah got down well to grasp and seconds later a similar chance for Fleming saw the Hanwell striker fire inches wide of the target with the final actions of the game seeing both United under 18 prospects, Rashid Enayat and Michael O’Neil get some first team action, replacing Dombaxe and Ryan Kinnane respectively.
