Hayes & Yeading's new look under 18 side continued their 100% start to the season with a hard fought 1-0 victory away at Aldershot Town who had themselves also won both of their opening fixtures.

The two sides cancelled each other in midfield during the opening phase of the game, the first effort on goal coming in the 14th minute when the Shots Kofi Halliday worked his way across the edge of the United area and hit a shot that Tyler Wootton was down well to field at the foot of his post.

Just a couple of minutes later Halliday turned provider for his skipper Matt Rudolph but once again Wootton was equal to the shot. With United playing a little on the break while not being overly troubled at the other end as the defence held firm, it was 34 minutes before another serious effort on goal as Wootton went full stretch to superbly tip over a well struck free-kick from Jack Howard. The corner itself caused more problems for the visitors as the ball was headed back into the six yard box and the slightest of flicks from Rob Gerrard led to Wootton again pulling off a fine reaction save to keep the scores level.

Wootton then held another swirling shot from Rudolph before United launched a stinging counter attack down the right wing with debutant Gil Cravid breaking towards the bye-line before crossing to the near post where Josh Odunwo made the perfect run to volley past Luke Williams in the Shots goal.

On the stroke of half time it was again Wootton standing in the home sides way as Howard met a deep Meshack Douglaus cross on the volley with the United keeper holding the shot with aplomb.

It was United who came out quickest in the second half with Odunwo quickly chasing down Williams, winning possession from the Shots keeper outside the area but his angle was extremely tight and he fired across the goal and the danger was cleared.

Williams had to be alert on the hour as a Jalon Rowe cross from the left was met on the volley by Odunwo, the Shots keeper diving to his right to save. Three minutes later Wootton was again the immovable force as Gerrard broke quickly into the United area on the left, his cross come shot was pushed out by the United stopper and just out of the range of two Shots players sliding in at the far post.

Williams held an Olomowewe header for the home side before Halliday missed the home sides best chance to date when he slid in to meet a Gerrard near post cross, firing over from less than six yards out.

With United looking to close up at the back, just six minutes remained when from distance Olomowewe appeared to make a superb last ditch tackle to deny Charlie Kennedy only for referee Arbuckle to award the home side a spot kick, worryingly the fourth United have conceded this season. However, for the third time from the four, Wootton was equal to it and Elliot Blair's kick was saved as the United keeper also collected the rebound.

As time ran out, Williams saved at the foot of his post from Odunwo and at the other end Kennedy met a free-kick but Wootton was alive to it and caught the ball confidently to seal victory for Simon East's side.
