COUNTY CALL-UPS

Whilst the U18s prepare for their FA Youth Cup trip to Thurrock tonight, some of their slightly older team-mates will also be preparing for a game nearer home. Daniel Wishart, Ben Gladwin and Mo Bettamer have all been called up for the Middlesex U23 team to play this evening at North Greenford United in a 7.30pm game against the Army. Good luck to all.

PENTNEY IN ON LOAN

With Steve Arnold out with an injured foot, Nas Bashir has swooped to sign goalkeeping cover in the form of Carl Pentney from npower League 1 side Colchester United. Despite being only 22 he has an impressive pedigree having been part of the Leicester City Academy that won the FA Premier Academy League in 2006/07 and also a former England U17 international. Loan spells at York, Ilkeston, Fisher, Woking and Leamington were accompanied by a sole first team appearance for the Foxes before a move to his hometown club Colchester United in August 2010. Loan spells at Bath and Chelmsford last season were followed by another month earlier this season with the Clarets. He arrives at United on a short-term loan.

DECEMBER 3RD FILLED

With both United and Hampton having a free Saturday on 3rd December due to our respective opponents being in FA Cup action, the chance arose for the Club to approach Hampton to see if they would bring forwards the Middlesex Senior Cup tie scheduled for Tuesday 6th at the Beveree and they have duly agreed. This will mean that our Blue Square Bet Premier fixture at Braintree on the 6th can go ahead as originally scheduled.

FLEETWOOD VISIT OFF

Fleetwood Town's visit to Kingfield on Sunday 4th December will have to be re-arranged after they progressed to the 2nd round of this season's FA Cup with Budweiser at the expense of npower League side Wycombe Wanderers. As soon as a new date is agreed you will be advised on these news pages.

BLACKBURN AWAIT THE VICTORS

The reward for the victors in United's FA Youth Cup tie with Thurrock is a prime trip to Premier League side Blackburn Rovers who have in their first team line-up as we all know a certain former under 18 star from Church Road in the shape of Jason Roberts. Details of the Thurrock match are shown below and the United youngsters could do with as much support as possible at Ship Lane to cheer them through to the 3rd round.

THURROCK GAME RE-ARRANGED

Due to several United players being called up to represent Middlesex County FA on 12th November, our second round FA Youth Cup tie has been moved to Wednesday 23rd November at Thurrock's Ship Lane Ground, kick off 19:45.

Steve Arnold

ARNOLD FRACTURES FOOT

NAS BRINGS IN NEW FACES

Strengthening his striking options this week, Nas Bashir has secured the services of Ghanaian international Lloyd Owusu on loan from npower League 2 side Barnet. Owusu began his league career with Brentford after impressing at Slough Town but before all that he had learnt his trade in the FEDO set-up. Since then he has a highly successful Football League career with Sheffield Wednesday, Reading, Yeovil Town, Cheltenham Town and Brighton & Hove Albion. After featuring for Adelaide United in Australia he returned to the UK with Luton Town last season in the Blue Square Premier before a short spell with AEP Paphos in Cyprus. He signed for Barnet at the start of this season where his appearances have been limited to coming off the bench thus far.

Also signing ahead of tomorrow's trip to Stockport is Dean Sinclair. Dean is a midfielder who began his career with Norwich City before making 125 appearances for Barnet helping them to the Conference title. Earned a move to Charlton Athletic but failed to break into the first team, spending loan spells at Cheltenham Town, Grimsby Town and Barnet. Signed for Grimsby last term before spending a loan spell at Cambridge United earlier his year. Spent the opening part of the season with Arlesley Town.

THURROCK GAME ARRANGED

United's second round FA Youth Cup tie has been confirmed for Monday 14th November at Thurrock's Ship Lane Ground, kick off 19:45.

I am reliably informed that admission will be the same as for United's home games, adults at £3 and concessions just £1.

Max Hubbard

U18s NUDGE PAST GILLINGHAM

A 39th minute strike from Max Hubbard (left) was sufficient to see Simon East's Hayes & Yeading under 18 side progress to the second round of this seasons FA Youth Cup at the Priestfield Stadium. United's reward for this hard fought victory is a trip to Thurrock.
